Finally done! The kiriban for my 8888th pageview, caught by . She asked for cannibal Jack, so here he is.
This one was a real bitch, and I'm not perfectly happy with him. Somehow I think he looks a bit like Tory from Mythbusters. And I hate this close-up. He looks awesome from about 10 feet away. Great wall art, I guess, but not so great on close inspection. So everyone hit fullview and step as far away from the computer as possible. There's something just not quite right about the eyes. It's hard to do detailed eyes in charcoal. Hard to get fine lines. Also, like the Tia I made for =decemberdreams, I decided to not spend too much time on the hair, but give it more of a quick, soft feel.
I actually worked on him for nearly two hours yesterday, decided I hated it, and blackened it all in and started again today. So total time is probably close or more than 6 hours. I had such hideous problems with his features I had to resort to my scaling ruler. Funny, I think the thumb actually looks really good. Maybe I should load the fullview as 100x100! Ha! Or put a big warning at the top: please small view! Of course, I can make him an avatar if anyone wants.
Method: Charcoal Reduction
Size: 12"x 18"; picture is cropped
Materials: 6B 4B 2B condensed black charcoal; condensed white charcoal; medium and soft black vine charcoal; kneaded rubber eraser; pink pearl plastic eraser, fingers for blending and smudging; washcloth and Lava brand soap for clean-up. Original is photographed, not scanned. Photographed before fixing.
It only took me three months to get it done. So sorry *SeriousFun!
