How to Search dA by Resolution by AreteEirene How to Search dA by Resolution by AreteEirene
*EDIT* This process is no longer necessary. You can now search for specific resolution by choosing the "More" drop down on the toolbar, then "Diversions", and then "Wallpaper". From there you can refine your search to specific resolutions using the drop down menu, and category by using the category tree on the left of the page. :w00t:

When v.5 came on-line, the old limit gellery by resolution button went poof, causing great consternation among many users. It's on the list of issues to be dealt with, eventually, but most people don't know that you can use the search to limit galleries by resolution, and you can pick any resolution you like, not just the standard ones that one used to be able to choose from. Plus, you can limit pretty much any gallery you like, not just wallpaper galleries.

Moreover, I am quite sick of explaining in depth how to search by resolution to everyone who either posts in the Help or in the Suggestion Forums (I'm not sick of the posts, just of all the typing ;)). There's almost always a thread about it, too. So I sat down today and made a tutorial on just how to use the search, for all those who miss the function.

Happy browsing by resolution!

It's possible to search wallpapers and such by resolution using the search bar at the top of the page.

Use the prefix in: to limit your search to a particular gallery. Subcategories are separated with a foreward slash.

blue in:customization/wallpaper

Then, use the height: and width: prefixes to limit your search to a certain size.

blue in:customization/wallpaper width:1024 heigth:768

You can even search multiple sizes. Use parentheses and the keyword or to group items.

blue in:customization/wallpaper width:(1280 or 1024) heigth:768

Thanks :D

The function was always there, but almost no one knew about it, since the old search was always so buggy. But now you can combine terms much more easily. I really like the new search, but I don't know all the tricks yet either. Still playing :boogie:

The old search was 'buggy'?!? I don't remember THAT search EVER working completely! I'm playing too. They should have an open field to practice things on somehow.
That's a great one, though! Surprised me!

I would just like the programmers to explain what all the functions are. How hard can that be?

I know. I think i've read everything twice now, and still am finding strange ways to find info that isn't in the help guide. (???) The bugs are random, too! The worst type...

 There is a lot that isn't in the faq. I hope they isolate the disappearing gallery bug soon; its the most annoying one of all.

Yeah - it IS terrible... Or submitting a scrap and it's not there, then it's there, and a week later it isn't...Oh, and I really also enjoyed getting knocked off for further system maintain. while in mid-long note. That was a good one, too. Thanks guys!
